Fungal Meningitis Linked to Steroid Back Injections
As you are aware the CDC has issued an alert after cases of a rare fungal meningitis were reported in Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, North Carolina and Indiana. On Thursday the CDC updated their alert and identified 150 patients in Georgia who have been exposed to the contaminated steroid injection medication.
None of Pain Solutions Treatment Centers, or Georgia Pain Spine Centers patients were exposed to the contaminated steroid responsible for the outbreak of the Aspergillus "Fungal" Meningitis. The source of the contaminated steroid injection medication was identified as New England Compounding Center. Pain Solutions Treatment Centers, and Georgia Pain Spine Centers does not order any of our steroid injection medications from New England Compounding Center. The CDC also identified the lots that were contaminated and have notified the providers that received the lots so they could notify their patients, again we were not notified as having received any of the contaminated medication.
We value our patients and their safety and will continue to monitor this situation.
